Welcome to St. Alexis Orthodox Mission! A Mission of Joy!
Our patron, righteous father Alexis of Wilkes-Barre, was a missionary priest, sent from his homeland in Slovakia as a Uniate, who, in order to serve and protect his flock in the United States in a hostile environment, recognized the need to lead them in a return to their Orthodox Christian heritage.
We are a multi-ethnic community, welcoming Orthodox Christians from all backgrounds as well as those who want to learn and experience the Christian faith. Everyone is welcome to visit our Mission. We are a Mission of the Orthodox Church in America, the Diocese of the South.
The Orthodox Church in America traces its origins to 1794 and the arrival, in Kodiak, Alaska, of eight Orthodox missionaries from the Valaamo Monastery in the northern Karelia region of Russia. Today, the Orthodox Church in America remains as a canonical jurisdiction and is the autocephalous church of America. The primate of the church is his Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, and the Diocese of the South is headed by The Right Reverend Alexander, Archbishop of Dallas, the South and the Bulgarian Diocese.
The dean of the Central Florida Deanery Parishes of which our Mission belongs is Archpriest Theodore Pisarchuk, pastor of St. Justin Martyr Orthodox Church of Jacksonville, Florida.
Our priest, appointed officially in June 2022 is Archpriest David C. Rucker.
Services are held in English.
Arrangements may be made with the officiating priest for baptisms, weddings, funerals, memorials, the blessing of homes, and the visitation of those who are ill. May our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ bless you. We look forward to having you with us at St. Alexis Orthodox Mission.
